DESCRIPTION:
Our Discover New Zealand program, available in January 2026, combines academic courses with thrilling outdoor activities. Students will engage in mountain biking, white-water rafting, and surfing, while also delving into the unique sustainability practices of New Zealand’s ecosystems. Begin your journey in Auckland, where Maori culture and language classes set the stage for deeper cultural understanding.
Weekends are filled with excursions to places like Rotorua and Taupo, where geothermal wonders and alpine crossings await. Engage in hands-on workshops in sustainable gardening and traditional flax weaving, learning directly from Maori experts. The final week takes you to the stunning Waitomo Caves and Raglan, known for their adventure sports and natural beauty. This program not only provides academic credit but also ensures a transformative experience through education, adventure, and cultural immersion.

SCHEDULE:
Week 1: Arrival in Auckland with orientation and introduction to Maori culture. Morning language and cultural classes are followed by afternoon activities such as mountain walks and island cruises.
Week 2: Excursions to Rotorua and Taupo, including tree walks, geothermal explorations, white-water rafting, and the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. These activities are complemented by sustainability workshops focused on local environmental practices.
Week 3: Continued cultural and language classes with optional activities such as art gallery visits and rainforest tours. Mid-week, participants will engage in sustainable gardening and flax weaving workshops.
Week 4: Final cultural activities in Auckland followed by excursions to Waitomo Caves and Raglan for blackwater caving and surfing lessons. The program concludes with a reflection day and a farewell event celebrating the students’ achievements.
